Judicial Affairs Commission Application

AAPA is seeking PAs to serve on the Judicial Affairs Commission (JAC) for a two-year term beginning July 1, 2024. The deadline to apply is Sunday, June 2, 2024.

The JAC is responsible for implementing the judicial affairs responsibilities reflected in the AAPA Bylaws and the AAPA Judicial Affairs Manual, which generally includes reviewing disciplinary matters and hearing official complaints. The JAC regularly reviews the JAC Manual and makes recommendations to the AAPA Board of Directors. The JAC also collaborates with other commissions and staff to provide guidance on judicial or ethics-related issues and policies. For further information on the Commission's work in the coming year, please read the 2024-2025 Commission charges here.

The JAC conducts its work year-round, which generally entails monthly conference calls with some work carried out via email. The JAC frequently deliberates over highly sensitive and confidential cases, the outcomes of which may have a significant impact on individual PAs. JAC members must be impartial and thoughtful in their deliberations, committed to maintaining confidentiality, and consistent in upholding AAPA policy. To be successful in this role, JAC members benefit from developing a strong working knowledge of AAPA’s judicial affairs policies.

Please note that in accordance with BA 2400.3.1.0, commission members who are PAs must also be a member of a constituent organization.
