Every year, the Society for Technology in Anesthesia (STA) bestows the J.S. Gravenstein Award for lifetime achievement in the area of technology in anesthesia.
The award is named for J.S. "Nik" Gravenstein, a founding member and former president of the STA. For over thirty years, Dr. Gravenstein was a driving force in advancing anesthesia technology, patient simulation and anesthesia patient safety. His lifelong commitment to developing and teaching anesthesia technology embodies the values of the Society.
Recipients are invited to make a lunchtime presentation at the STA Annual Meeting, where the award is presented.

Any STA member may make a nomination. Candidates need not be STA members.
